Several poems from my chapbook, I Meant to Say (overhere Press, 2007), appear in Caprice, Gertrude, Right Hand Pointing, and Shampoo. There are also two of the poems on the overhere Press site. Six of these poems also appeared in a little (and out of print) book I made to share with friends. The poems in this series are inspired by personal ads posted in the "missed connections" section of craigslist communities from different cities.
I've also been working on a series tentatively titled "Postcards to Box 464," inspired by the texts of postcards sent over the course of 50+ years to my parents' longtime neighbors. I'm pleased to be able to say that these poems will be published by Bootstrap Productions! Some of the poems from this series appear in the following online magazines: 21 Stars Review (and here), 42opus, Mastodon Dentist, Right Hand Pointing, Shampoo, and Snorkel. I posted a few scans of the original postcards over at flickr.
In another series based on material from craigslist, I work from ads for "free stuff." Find a handful of these poems in The Onion Union and as one of my Teeny Tiny mini-books. There is a sweet review of the mini-book, courtesy of Eileen Tabios as part of her review site, Galatea Resurrects.
I recently completed a manuscript of 50 poems, tentatively titled Improving Homes and Lives. These poems begin with text drawn from old magazines, mostly "women's magazines" from the 1930s and 1940s. Some of these poems appear in 21 Stars Review, 42opus (and here), elimae, Eratio, listenlight, The Local Writer, Otoliths, past simple (there's also a link at past simple to an audio file of me reading three poems), and Sawbuck. You can also find 1 2 3 4 5 of these poems in No Tell Motel.
Over the summer of 2007, I began work on poems which draw from a range of texts about the lives of queer women (from Dusty Springfield and Marlene Dietrich to carpenters, caregivers, etc). One of those poems appears in Media Cake, three in Salt River Review, and 1 2 3 4 in Two Hawks Quarterly. Six of these also appear in a Teeny Tiny mini-book called Golden Lights.
I've also written a lot of poetry based (more or less loosely) on my life. My forthcoming chapbook, At Home, will collect a variety of poems about my experiences upon moving into the house where my grandparents lived for nearly 50 years and will be published by Mercy Seat Press, with proceeds going to the Greater Washington Chapter of the National MS Society.
I have poems here and there in several other places on the web, and here they are, alphabetically by title: Admit One, And Thinkin' and Prayin', Clinical, Cut, Economy of Movement, Fame (scroll down!), For Anti-Anxiety Effects, Grade, Help Wanted, Intimacy, Like a Bee, Living Room, November Afternoon, Nostalgia, One Moment Please, Out to Dinner (pdf file), Poem to Temporarily Allieviate Your Suffering from Arthritis, Recommended Reading (plus one!), and Sundays. I can be heard reading a poem called "Old Age" in an issue of the audio mag, i-outlaw.
Last but not least, I've been participating in a new writing/art community, MFA Bitch, where we submit responses to monthly "assignments," so check out my poems there as well as lots of other great work!
